& research

From charms and chokers to shackles and fetters, this issue explores the many manifestations of that most contradictory of objects: ‘The Chain’. Worn with love since time immemorial, it is also the ultimate symbol of slavery and suffering. Linking together royals and rappers, provocative punks and crashed cars, cycling skirts and classic scarfs, caged wrestlers and medieval warriors, hyperlinks and haunted houses, Baltic protestors and Cuban revolutionaries.

At MacGuffin I link texts and images together, and vice versa. This means that I research photographs and archival imagery that show another side of the use of the object or the context of the object; I propose images as topics for the magazine, and I take care of license and copyrights; a process of six months per issue.
